Happy Valentine's Day, Batmobile!

Finally, the world has come to it's senses and released Batmobile Valentines!

That's sixty years worth of Bat-car love!

Two of my favorites.

The biggest card goes to the current movie Batmobile

On the back of each card has this extra from Shawn Martinbrough
It probably isn't hard to guess my favorite, but can you identify them all?

Tomorrow we announce the winner of the Brave and Bold Female Figure Giveaway!

  2. The Amelia Island Concours was this past weekend so there were lots of car auctions in connection with the event. Reading about some movie car, I decided to check out the earliest Batmobile and I discovered that all the histories that I could find about the Batmobile are wrong. Bob Kane's 1941 Batmobile was not based on the 1936 Cord 812. It looks nothing like the Cord but is actually a close copy of the 1938 Graham Paige "Spirit of Motion" aka Sharknose convertible.

Please pass this around the community of Batman fans.

  3. Wow Ronnie, I think you're on to something!

I don't recall which of us made the Cord connection first- BIll or myself- and then other media went with it.

For my part, I was looking at it from the perspective of the available 1/25 model cars available for conversion. Plus, I was going with a fair amount of automotive illustration vagueness. Certainly, I saw the Cord model and thought "I could get that awfully close to the picture".

Clearly, the Sharknose- a car I was unfamiliar with- hits it on the nose. It appears to be a very rare car and somewhat unpopular with American audiences. Nonetheless, Mr. Kane et al did a very nice job illustrating it.

Sadly, I can only find 1/43 replicas. I will have to modify my 1/24 Cord model even more to get it to the Sharknose!

A rev of the Bat-engines in salute to you, sir!
